Trees

For every basket sold, we plant a seedlings in Bolgatanga.

Why?

Locally, trees are a potential source of food, shade, shelter. On a global scale, trees help reduce greenhouse gases and stop erosion.

Bolgatanga is a deforested part of Ghana. Desertification is spreading. The hot season sees temperatures frequently hit 40+ daily (over 110) and shade is absolutely essential.

This is the dry season, when the first crop of Bolga baskets were prooduced using plastic and cloth, as you can see here. Two things are obvious from this picture: 1. Plastic is littered everywhere in this environment. 2. A great need for more trees.
